At the end of this training participants will be able to:

  • Increase cultural competency and sensitivity around the LGBTQ community.

  • Bring about positive, LGBTQ affirming change in the participant's knowledge, attitude, and behavior towards the LGBTQ community.

  • Utilize best practices to drive enhanced awareness, understanding, and sensitivity around LGBTQ community issues.

  • Identify personal strengths in creating inclusivity in regards to their organization.

  • Implement best practices for inclusive exchanges with LGBTQ community members.

  • Describe specific challenges transgender people have within the organization and as constituents.

  • Identify best practices for supporting transgender people within the organization and as constituents.

  • Describe the current status of representation of LGBTQ people in the nonprofit world and possible areas for change.

  • Discuss specific best practices for advancement of LGBTQ diversity, equity, and inclusion in nonprofit organizations, as regards board composition, leadership, and staff.
